Cecilia Ronson performed Spoken Word poetry for the first time in 2020. Motivated to have a “Taylor Swift” moment, the spontaneous sign up ultimately ended up being the best thing she has ever done. In her short career Cecilia has already performed multiple times, including two occasions on Radio Adelaide. Her segment on the radio inspired the station to create a whole segment on poetry and have now opened opportunities to local acts. The connection she has with the Adelaide poetry community mostly stems from Mixed Bag Poetry. MBP is an open mic night that debuted in October 2020. Once a month she takes the stage to perform her original work and to host the night. Her time running MBP has sparked a new appreciation to listening to poetry and never wanting to stop learning. She has also been fortunate enough to feature at Social Hearts Club, a poetry night that she has supported and had worked collaboratively with MBP. Cecilia will not define her poetry style anytime soon, just like her identity, sexuality and personality, she is still learning what it is.
