Carissa Fischer is a performance poet, born and raised in roaring Radelaide. With the use of lyrical language, upbeat tone and metaphoric prose, they explore intersectional identities, and how to navigate these landscapes in their self described coming of age journey. Creating poems and writing creatively since age 15, Carissa has immersed themselves in the poetry scene. Testing the waters, they performed at FEAST’s Queer Youth Underground in 2018 and 2019, officially debuting in 2019 as a feature poet at Draw Your (S)words. They have since performed at the University’s Senior College Fringe Showcase 2020, and spoke at Better Together, closing the national conference with a poetry set. Still navigating the poetry scene, and coming into their own as an artist, Carissa views their poems as a work in progress.
